As of today, Webiny is available to everyone. We've worked for the last two years building Webiny and now is the time to show it to everyone. So lets see how it all happened.
Somewhere in early 2009 I've received a call from a friend asking me to build him a website for his company. Back then I've worked with one travel agency and asked my friend Sven (founder of Webiny) to build a simple CMS for this "client".
After that several more people asked me to build them a website and little by little we had something that was not called Webiny (we didn't have a name then). In early 2010 a friend asked me to build him a Booking System for his travel agency. I was then working with one publishing company but still had a lot of experience from last company and again, Sven came by and we've built Webiny Booking System (we realised we had a product and found this great domain name and brand name).
Little by little we worked on Webiny and since 2011. we formed a team of people to work on different client's projects and Webiny was formed. We realised that we had a great platform that enabled us to build complex websites and applications very fast.
So the idea of launching SaaS service was born somewhere in early 2011 and we've worked hard to get things packed as we wanted (Sven, me and our team members are big perfectionists, so we didn't want to put any public beta before we were satisfied with the product).
And so, after countless hours of coding, designing, planning, we present you Webiny - the website platform for business.
So what is Webiny (take a look at the complete website and you will probably have a better picture, here we will explain it in short):
- Webiny is a PHP framework for building custom web apps
- Webiny is a cloud service for building websites, ecommerce sites and travel agencies

- Webiny CMS
- Webiny Booking System
- Webiny eCommerce solutions (still in development, we will launch it soon)
- Webiny Banner Management
- Webiny Emails and Newsletters
What can be done with Webiny?
Well, pretty much any type of website. But in short, it is a stable, scalable and secure environment for your website, webshop or travel agency website. You can buy a subscription for Webiny, create a theme and start running your business. Webiny has a lot of built-in features (see features in detail) that helps you run your business with ease.
Why SaaS?
Besides of many SaaS advantages (stability, price, security etc), we've decided to go with SaaS solution because we strongly believe that online environment will continue to evolve and bring convergence in many technologies. Limiting the platform to specific disconnected instances seemed like a bad idea and we want to continue developing our platform.
As for the price which can be an issue to small businesses we wanted to provide enterprise class platform at really small price.
What are our next steps?
In short, we will continue to develop the platform, enable our partners to work with Webiny, throw a design contest, open developer center and so on.
We continue to upgrade the functionalities of the system and we would like to hear your opinions once you check out the features.

BTW, I liked how you wrote you found a great domain name and a brand name. I think great domains can achieve brand staus much easier.

Sorry but I really don't understand why are you better then other already existing systems? Benchmarks were made by you in closed system to which no one has access, so that like me saying I have the best product but I will not show it to you and you will not get to test it! I really don't know who would believe you.. may be someone who really does not understand anything about web...

Dear "Other One". I would like to ask where have you picked up that Webiny is better than some other system? The benchmark (on Sven's early blog) was a showcase how Webiny behaves and it was made in beta for us to see where we stand.
As other SaaS software available, we do not provide others with the source code.
We do not ask anyone to believe in Webiny, it's up to them to decide if our solution fits their needs, but we will gladly give you the demo and partner account to test the features of our system. You can contact me on goran@webiny.com if you want the access.
